Targeting the Participation of Women, Youth and People with Disabilities in the Electoral Process

The Core Team that visited Manila in October 2006 is now closely working with the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) in sensitizing the people on the importance of the involvement of the women, youth and people with disabilities in the electoral process. To help broaden its outreach, a training manual has been developed by the Core Team which has incorporated into the ECB's Bhutan Electoral Education Training Strategy (BEETS).

As part of the on-going collaboration, the Core Team has been able to brief 45 teachers, 40 local elected functionaries (gups, mangmis, gedrungs), 120 business people, and over 600 youth from across the 20 districts in the country.
